日記。２０１４年。３月５日。灰の水曜日。

●　今日が灰の水曜日。フィラデルフィアの町には額に灰を塗った信徒たちが現れる。
そして、受難節（レント）がはじまる。
キリスト復活の復活祭は４月２０日。よく知らないが、レントは四旬節とも日本語では呼ばれるらしい。

●寒い。だけど綺麗に晴れた水曜日。
午前９時に、薄血剤のための血液検査。チャック同伴。
午後６時半にチャックは礼拝のお御堂奉仕。午後１０時過ぎにもどる。

●　タナカ・ニュースは米国のウクライナについての外交が火遊びだと警鐘をならしている。
事実、ウクライナの国内事情に僕は精通しているわけでもない。ただ、スターリンが理不尽にシベリアに追放したクリミアの韃靼族に同情してるだけ。

●　級友の死。ダートマス卒業/1953クラス秘書、David Siegel君から：

”I am sorry to report the death of our classmate, David Payson King. David died this past Saturday, March 1st, from injuries received the previous day in an automobile accident. This information was sent to me by Mark Smoller who received it from David’s brother, Robert, Class of ’55. I was unable to find an obituary for David in the Denver area newspapers.

I can find very little information on David. While at Dartmouth he majored in geology, was a member of Delta Upsilon, DOC, DCU and the Dartmouth Geological Society. He participated in track and football. Prior to Dartmouth, David attended Governor Dummer Academy in Massachusetts.”

フラターニティDUの友。彼の弟もダートマスだった。
